The GB/T 31197-2026 "Inorganic chemicals for industrial use-Determination of impurity ions-Ion chromatography method" approved by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Standardization Administration will be officially implemented on October 1, 2026. This standard will be used to detect more than 14 types of inorganic ions.

As one of the drafting units, Qingdao Shine Chromatography Technology Co., Ltd. has been deeply involved in the entire process of standard formulation, providing a comprehensive and localized solution for impurity ion detection in the inorganic chemical industry.

This document specifies the principles, reagents or materials, instruments, test procedures, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, representation of measurement results, evaluation of measurement results, etc. for the determination of impurity ions in inorganic chemical products by ion chromatography. It is applicable to the quantitative determination of impurity anions and cations in inorganic chemical products by ion chromatography.

GB/T 31197-2026 is the first revision since its first publication in 2014. Expanding from anions to simultaneous determination of anions and cations, and significantly improving methodological evaluation indicators, the specific modifications are as follows:

  • 1. The scope has been expanded from only measuring impurity anions to impurity anions+impurity cations, significantly expanding the coverage

  • 2. The definition of ion chromatography has been changed according to GB/T 14666-2025 8.2.4.8, and the terminology has been redefined to make the methodological expression more rigorous

  • 3. Added reagents and consumables. Added suppressor regeneration solution, post column derivative reagents, and microporous membrane (0.22 μ m/0.45 μ m)

  • 4. Expansion and upgrade of detector types: conductivity detector/amperometric detector/UV visible detector/fluorescence detector/mass spectrometry/ICP-MS

  • 5. Remove the requirement for the inner diameter/length of the separation column and loosen the instrument configuration to make it more flexible and adaptable to different manufacturers and application scenarios

  • 6. The separation requirement is clearly stated, with R ≥ 1.3 added for qualitative analysis and R ≥ 1.5 added for quantitative analysis

  • 7. Improve the methodological evaluation indicators by adding four new evaluation indicator systems: accuracy, precision, linearity, and quantitative limit

  • 8. Establishment of Core Cation Standard Solution System: Addition of Preparation Methods for 12 Cation Standard Solutions A.1.19~A.1.30, A.1.32

In response to the new requirements of GB/T 31197-2026, SHINE provides a localized instrument solution:

Using CIC-D260 intelligent dual-channel ion chromatography, one instrument simultaneously completes the determination of anions and cations, perfectly matching the new range requirements of "quantitative determination of impurity anions and cations" in the standard.

  • Cation column :SH-CP-2

  • Anion column: SH-AP-1

  • Eluent:MSA/KOH

  • Suppressed conductivity detection

  • Autosampler: SHA-18i

  • Eluent generator: SHRF-10
