Recently, Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province issued the notice on Shandong Gazelle and Unicorn Enterprises in 2021, which identified 479 enterprises such as Qingdao Shenghan Chromatograph Technology Co., Ltd. as provincial gazelle enterprises in 2021.

Gazelle enterprises, also known as high growth enterprises, refer to enterprises that cross the death valley and enter a period of rapid growth after entrepreneurship.  

The word "Gazelle" comes from Silicon Valley. The concept of "Gazelle enterprise" was born in the 1990s and was first proposed by David birch, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of technology. Silicon Valley calls high growth enterprises "Gazelle enterprises", because their characteristics of "small size, fast running and high jumping" are the same as those of "Gazelle". These enterprises can not only easily exceed the annual growth rate of more than one time, ten times, one hundred times and one thousand times, but also quickly realize IPO and raise capital through issuing shares in the capital market.
