Formaldehyde poses various hazards to multiple body systems such as the respiratory system, immune system, nervous system, and reproductive system. Long term exposure to environments with excessive formaldehyde can easily lead to serious consequences such as coughing, wheezing, weakened immunity, neurasthenia, abnormal fetal development, and even cancer. By detecting formaldehyde, it is possible to timely understand whether the concentration of formaldehyde in the environment exceeds the standard, so as to take corresponding measures to avoid its harm to health This article uses SHINE ion chromatography, post column derivatization system, and UV detector to configure SHINE SH-C18-AQ chromatography column for the determination of formaldehyde. The experimental results show that formaldehyde has a response value of 24.23mAU and a signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of about 400 at a concentration of 1.2 mg/L, fully meeting the customer's testing requirements of 0.5 mg/L or above.
