From July 7 to 11, 2026, The 12th National Symposium on Disinfection DBPs, along with The 5th IWA Symposium on Disinfection & DBPs, was successfully held. As a supporting organization for the conference, SHINE showcased its ion chromatography water quality testing solutions on-site, engaging in in-depth discussions with industry experts, water utility design institutes, water supply enterprises, and research peers to explore new approaches for precise detection of disinfection byproducts and water safety management.

The Disinfection and DBPs conference is the international event promoted by IWA Disinfection Specialist Group related to disinfection, disinfection by-products and related topics. The conference stands as a relevant and well-recognized network opportunity for sharing the expertise of water professionals worldwide in the view of promoting innovative shared visions with respect to conference topics and shaping the future of water management.
After four successful past editions, in Mexico, China , Italy and Spain, the 5th edition of the conference will take place in July 2026 in Shanghai, China (IWA DDBPs 2026)and will be jointly organized by Tongji University (including College of Environmental Science and Engineering; State Key Laboratory of Water Pollution Control and Green Resource Recycling; Key Laboratory of Urban Water Supply, Water Saving and Water Environment Governance in the Yangtze River Delta of Ministry of Water Resources; and UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development) and Water Purification Technology Periodical Press under the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology (SAST). The University of Alberta and University of Calgary will also participate in the conference organization. Dr. Mohamed Gamal El-Din (University of Alberta, Canada), Dr. Bin Xu (Tongji University, China) and Dr. Gopal Achari (University of Calgary, Canada) will serve as Co-Chairs of the conference.
The conference will bring together academia, industry, water utilities, policy makers and other stakeholders of the water sector.
Water disinfection by-products, chlorite, bromate, brine and other indicators are key testing items for drinking water safety control. Long term dependence on imported chromatographic equipment restricts the localization and upgrading of domestic water monitoring systems. SHINE , which has been deeply involved in the field of ion chromatography for more than 20 years, brought its independently developed ion chromatograph and water quality testing solution to the conference, directly addressing the pain points of industry testing.
The exclusive exhibition booth for SHINE at this conference was simultaneously opened, showcasing the CIC-D260 intelligent dual-channel ion chromatograph, SHA-18i autosampler, and dual-channel eluent generator, showcasing customized testing solutions for municipal water supply, sewage treatment plants, secondary water supply, and environmental monitoring stations in all aspects.

During the exhibition, university research teams, experts from various water management groups, environmental monitoring units, and overseas customers stopped to exchange ideas.
